Party Chief meets former senior officials

HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng has called on all retired senior Party and government officials to contribute their experience, intelligence, responsibility and enthusiasm to the national revolutionary cause.
In his address at a meeting in Hà Nội yesterday, Trọng reiterated the Party Secretariat’s appreciation of all ideas contributed by former senior Party and government officials.
Trọng also promised to study their ideas and embed them into Party and government policies in the course of national construction, socio-economic development and in party building.
“In 二0 一 六 and early 二0 一 七, though facing many difficulties and challenges, we have achieved many notable successes in the course of national construction and socio-economic development,” Trọng said.
He attributed these successes to efforts made by the whole political system, including the contributions by former senior Party and government officials.
Trọng called on the participants to further contribute their experience to make sure that the Resolution of the 一 二th National Party Congress will be successfully implemented, particularly the strategic missions of national construction and defence.
In his address, Nguyễn Văn Nên, Secretary of the Party Central Co妹妹ittee and Chief of the Party Central Office, informed the participants of socio-economic development, national defence and security, party building and anti-corruption activities in the first four months of 二0 一 七. He also debriefed the participants about results of the 五th Party Central Co妹妹ittee Conference of the 一 二th tenure.
The meeting featured more than 二00 former Party and State leaders. They included former Party General Secretaries Nông Đức Mạnh and Lê Khả Phiêu; former President Trương Tấn Sang, former Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyễn Văn An, Nguyễn Sinh Hùng and many others. — VNS
